The late Winter & Spring months of early 2022 we received a huge donation from The Scottish Caravan Club and a regular monthly donation from Rab Corder Bathrooms which helped pay for our storage costs for all the equipment which we had purchased in time for the Summer shows of 2022.
March saw a new buddy join our ranks – David King, (read his short introduction above) We also enrolled Colin & Dougie as new ambassadors to the charity recognising their valued input to the organisation.
In April 2022 we ventured over to the east of D&G and paid a visit to the Muckle Toon (Langholm) to offer our much valued emotional & moral support to several sufferers who were pleased to see us, we vowed to return again later in the year. During the same month we started another support group, this time for the partners of sufferers who attend our monthly meetings (see the item above)
We ended our third financial year in May 2022 with a donation from the Dumfries Theatre Company and a visit to Dalswinton Gardens spreading the word with the help of Dougie Smith’s sports car which drew a lot of attention.
June, July & August saw us pitch the caravan & Gazeebo at several local shows including the Classic Car Rally at Moffat, The Stranraer, Wigtown & Dumfries Shows. We held another successful joint Golf Day with Dumfries Lions Club at The Moffat Golf Course, many thanks to our sponsors on the day. More donations kept coming from, Tesco, Dingbro, Tarff Town & Country along with the Birthday boys, (Alan Carmichael & Ian McQueen – 50th Birthday Donation) In August we were very grateful to receive a donation of over £2000 fro Solway Sharks who offered to have their shirts emblazoned with our logo for all to see.
September saw further private & anonymous donations but October we were delighted to host a concert at the D.B.C.C. staring Andrew Twigg which raised a handsome £2000 for our funds. Our Treasurer Andrew also took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk raising over £1000. The same month 8 local cyclist biked their way from Dumfries via Moffat, Longtown, Gretna & back to Dumfries all for the charity.
In November we finalized the advert ready for ITV for the whole of December, this was very well received and we had numerous comments which helped to raise the awareness of our new tag line – YOU NEED TO TALK – WE NEED TO TALK! The month of December donations from Slate Hairdressing Dumfries & Dingbo brought the calendar year to a close. We know how lucky we are having the huge support of both private and company donations to keep the charity going, with every penny being spent wisely and within Dumfries & Galloway to keep the awareness load & clear.
